Training Programs
It is our belief that it takes time and dedication from both trainer and owner alike to make a world class dog. From champion gun-dog to champion family dog, we take pride in teaching our dogs, watching them progress over time and growing their drive to please. Our training programs are customized to match the learning style of each individual dog and their owner, always striving to set a steady pace of progress throughout training.
Colorado might be Lab country, but we are not limited to retrievers. We train all breeds of bird dogs, retrievers, spaniels, terriers, toys, and even anything ending in "-doodle". We are always up for a challenge and enjoy the personalities and challenges that each breed and individual dog may bring.
Even if you're not located near Grand Junction or the Western Slope, you can fly your pooch into the airport for a focused training program & we can send him back with new skills and abilities.

Doggie Day Camp:
We can pick your pooch up in the morning, bring them in for a day of structured play and light obedience, then bring them back when you get home from work. You can do this once in a while, once a week, or every day!
Obedience programs:
Obedience is the foundation to all great companion and working dogs alike. We offer many different obedience programs custom fit for the dog and their owner. We offer lessons by the hour in your home, and expanding to public places. Or if you want something more general, we also have small group classes at various Grand Junction parks that focus on different subjects, like walking on leash and other basic obedience commands and tasks.
We strive to educate you and your dog on basic to advanced obedience training methods to instill a lifetime of good behaviors.
Gun dog programs:
Within the industry, a typical "started dog" gun dog program is 90 to 120 days. At our camp, your dog can stay a day or two, a week, or the full 120 days. Choose what works best for you and your K-9 companion. Our method begins with an assessment of you and your dogs needs, then we grow from there-- from introduction to birds or shot, building drive to retrieve, or steadiness drills for the ultimate steady to wing and shot. From puppy to finished gun dog, we are here to help.
Campaigning:
More than basic training and gun dog training, we also offer training for dogs in preparation for competition to obtain working titles. We can take a dog starting at any level: from beginning training to master level, from started to finished, from junior to master.
Stud Services:
Looking for that special male to match with your female? We have him! With a specialized breeding program, all of our males have obtained working titles through A.K.C., U.K.C., and/or the A.P.L.A.. All males have been cleared through our vigorous health check, as well as obtained health certificates through various organizations for animal health. Our dogs have been bred for generations for drive, looks, pedigree, and health to insure that all of our dogs are the best they can be. It may be looks, it may be drive, or it may pedigree, but whatever you're looking for our boys have got it. Come down and check out the Studs of High Country.
Puppies:
We offer puppies with select breeding and exclusive bloodlines. We breed our puppies for drive, trainability, looks, and athleticism. However, we only breed a few litters a year, so availability is limited. See our dogs and puppies page for more information about how you can take home a High Country Sporting Dogs pup.
